DEATHAMMER - CRIMSON DAWN
Raging for nearly two decades now, Norway's Deathammer spew the nastiest form of ungodly thrash obsessed with speed, violence, and other over the top debauchery. No form of life is safe as no stone is unturned by these frienzied bloodthirsty maniacs!
A very minimalist dirgey synth into briefly precedes "Abyssal Thunder" and it's high-pitched shrieks and roaring ripping fast guitars. Pounding drums and an almost leiftmotif-oriented simple yet engaging riff accompany "Stygian Lust" and Sargeant Salsten's furious vocal assualt. The title track defnitely shows no mercy, if you can get the easy reference right under your nose, with NWOBHM influences cranked up to ungodly speed. "Die Eternal" isn't simply a request, oh no, and it will also be fast and swift with how insane intense this molten slab of powerthrash is delivered. And to conclude, your descent "Into the Blackness of Hell" is over seven minutes of pain, agony, tempo shifts (apparently the only time anything throughout the album ever slows down), and overall torture, essentially giving you exactly what you deserve.
More clobbering. More pummeling. Less mercy and definitely less empathy. Deathammer demands your blood and your demise, and they have come to settle whatever score it is that they decides lingers on!
9/10
