Emering a decade ago from Finland with an ensemble of the nation's finest black metallers coming together, the symphonic, grandiose style of Chamber of Unlight gives plenty of nods to ethereal black metal from over a generation ago that once made the world tremble. Truly the meeting of these mad minds has created something exquisite and deadly, taking black metal right back to its rightful throne of the deadliest form of sheer audial terror.

Nothing quite like hearing "I WIELD THE FACE OF DEATH!" yelled before blasting into High Hell on "One With the One" and it's varied vocal attacked ranging from shriekd to growled and hypnotic keys also in alignment. The true unlight is upon us once more with "Wraithlike", symphoic and theatrical down to its marrow with even a hint of some NWOBHM riffing within. Toning things down slightly to turn to epic and operatic is "The Dagger", bursting with a blend of mighty speed and emotion and an array of vocal styles yet again. Beckoning you also to "Rise Above" and indeed it serves a grandiose purpose that has an end to all of pitiful Civilization. And finally with "Dominus Tenebrarum" we get a cinematic-style crescendo of spoken, clean, yet still deranged vocals sermonizing the final call to heed all darkness. Until next time...

Without a doubt Chamber of Unlight's relentless approach to ancient black metal insanity is a mighty bulwark against any falsehood approaching within, and their otherworldly devotion to it all proves that it will gleam forth from their samctimonious sounds. Only now will we realize just how good we have it so long as such acts continue to roam the lands!
